Old North End

The Old North End, known to locals as the ONE, is the melting pot of Burlington. Since the 1800s the neighborhood has been home to immigrants and a hub for small business activity. This rings true today, as immigrants bring their diverse backgrounds to Burlington. At the local ONE schools, educators speak an impressive 9 different languages with their students and families. While you eat your way through the ONE, be sure to check out the Intervale – a 360-acre campus of farmlands, trails, and open space along the Winooski River dedicated to the sustainable food revolution.

Finally, full? If ghost stories are your thing – you’re in luck, the ONE is home to the Elmwood Cemetery. Elmwood is the resting place of some of Burlington’s earliest residents, including revolutionary war soldiers.
